Purpose

The purpose of the virtual training course is to train nuclear medicine professionals on new trends in Nuclear Medicine (NM), advanced principles and techniques of NM applications and quality assurance.

Working Language(s)

The working language of the event will be English.

Scope and Nature

The experts will discuss the advances in Nuclear Medicine based on relevant global and regional experience. The online course will consist of lectures. It will include: Presentations and interactive discussion sessions covering emerging approaches in Nuclear Medicine (NM). These lectures should provide theoretical grounding in the improvement of NM Services to achieve the following:

  • Enhanced knowledge of key NM priorities worldwide and in Africa
  • Better understanding of the IAEA “one-house approach and Regional Strategies in NM
  • Enhanced knowledge of
  1. Global education trends;
  2. QUANUM Tool;
  3. Partnerships and collaboration in NM
  4. Health Management and Leadership in NM
  5. Other Regional projects within NM area –
  • Enhanced knowledge of diagnostic imaging and COVID19, etc.

Participation

The training course is open to maximum 80 participants from AFRA Member States participating in the RAF6057 project. Fluent knowledge of English language is a prerequisite.

Participants’ Qualifications and Experience

The course is intended for practicing professionals in Nuclear Medicine Units (i.e. Nuclear Medicine Physicians, Technologists, Nurses). The participants must have at least two years of experience in a Nuclear Medicine service and be directly involved in the Technical Cooperation Project RAF6057.

As the training course will be conducted in English, participants should have sufficient proficiency to follow lectures and express themselves in this language without difficulty.

Application Procedure

Candidates wishing to apply for this event should follow the steps below:

  1. Access the InTouch+ home page (https://intouchplus.iaea.org) using the candidate’s existing Nucleus username and password. If the candidate is not a registered Nucleus user, she/he must create a Nucleus account (https://websso.iaea.org/IM/UserRegistrationPage.aspx) before proceeding with the event application process below.
  2. On the InTouch + platform, the candidate must:
  1. Finalize or update her/his personal details, provide sufficient information to establish the required qualifications regarding education, language skills and work experience (‘Profile’ tab) and upload relevant supporting documents;
  2. Search for the relevant technical cooperation event (EVT1907804) under the ‘My Eligible Events’ tab, answer the mandatory questions and lastly submit the application to the required authority.

NOTE: Completed applications need to be approved by the AFRA National Coordinator and submitted to the IAEA through the established official channels by the provided designation deadline.

Administrative and Financial Arrangements

Nominating authorities will be informed in due course of the names of the candidates who have been selected and will at that time be informed of the procedure to be followed with regard to administrative and financial matters.

Selected participants who indicate their need, will receive financial support to contribute to the expenses of their costs for internet connection for the duration of the event in line with IAEA rules and procedures.

The organizers of the event do not accept liability for the payment of any cost or compensation that may arise from damage to or loss of personal property, or from illness, injury, disability or death of a participant while he/she is travelling to and from or attending the course, and it is clearly understood that each Government, in approving his/her participation, undertakes responsibility for such coverage. Governments would be well advised to take out insurance against these risks.
