The National Commission for Science and Technology and Innovation (NACOSTI) made a remarkable impact at the recently concluded Nairobi International Trade Fair, which took place from September 23rd to 29th, 2024. In line with its mandate and functions, NACOSTI showcased an impressive range of research materials, publication, and partnerships.NACOSTI, led by its Director General, Prof. Walter Oyawa, received accolades for its outstanding contributions in various categories. The commission won five (5) distinguished awards:
- 2nd Place: Branch Chairman’s Commendation Trophy
- 3rd Place: Best stand embracing Information Technology and Communication System
- 3rd Place: Best Regulatory Authority and Cooperation Stand
- 3rd Place: Best Stand Exhibiting the Most Blue Economy Innovations and Inventions
- 3rd Place: Best Display and Services in The Health Sector and Pharmaceutical Stand
NACOSTI’s stand was also recognized for its outstanding interpretation of the events theme, “Promoting Climate Smart Agriculture and Trade Initiatives for Sustainable Development.” This aligns with NACOSTI’s mission to advance research priorities that support Sustainable Development Goal 8, which focuses on fostering inclusive and sustainable economic growth, productive employment, and decent work for all.

The opening ceremony was graced by His Excellency Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who presented awards to various participating organizations. In his address, the Deputy President praised the participants for their efforts in promoting Kenya’s socio-economic development through innovation and sustainable practices.
