Researchers, policymakers, and professionals in science, technology, and innovation have convened for a pivotal training program under the Science, Technology, and Innovation Research (STIR) initiative. The five-day training, running from November 18 to November 22, is part of the certification process for participants aiming to become certified as STIR Professionals (STIR-Pro).
The training, themed “Research Ethics, Security, Integrity, Quality Assurance, and Monitoring,” is the third module in the STIR certification program. It focuses on equipping participants with skills essential for maintaining ethical and quality standards in research.
This programme is part of a broader initiative to enhance Kenya’s capacity in science, technology, and innovation by ensuring research aligns with both national and global ethical standards.
As the world continues to grapple with challenges in data security, ethical dilemmas, and research integrity, programmes like STIR-Pro are pivotal in fostering responsible research practices that benefit society while safeguarding scientific credibility.
The training comes at a time when the global scientific community is grappling with issues like data security breaches, ethical dilemmas in research, and declining public trust in scientific findings. Such programs play a vital role in addressing these challenges, ensuring that research benefits society while safeguarding scientific credibility.
